This lake is so wonderful. Near Highland Mary Lakes you come across the Brooklyn Trail which is a nice hiking trail, and Animas River is a tremendous whitewater spot nearby. So much amusing stuff to do here at Highland Mary Lakes, too great to be true. There's always Highland Mary Dam to have a look at right next door to Highland Mary Lakes, and after a long day outdoors Comfort       Inn Ouray is a great spot to spend a night or two. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun stuff in the San Juan Mountains. There is a magnificent hiking trail close to Highland Mary Lakes called the Deer Park Trail, and camping is available at Silverton Lakes Campground. The summit of Mount Rhoda can be seen from Highland Mary Lakes, and since you're here at Highland Mary Lakes it's a tremendous idea to visit Royal Tiger Basin. That                  right there is plenty of enjoyable stuff already but it goes on, the San Juan Mountains has it all. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Kendall Mountain is near Highland Mary Lakes; the Whitehead Trail is a wonderful hiking trail nearby. Summer at Highland Mary Lakes arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Highland Mary Lakes descend into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Mountaineer Creek is a great location to have a look at, and since you're here, you could also take a look at wonderful Lost Lake. This lake is located in the wonderful San Juan Mountains. Best Western Twin Peaks Motel is a magnificent spot to get some rest, and why not camp at Silver Summit RV Park And Jeep Rentals while you're here at Highland Mary Lakes. If you love the outdoors, you'll love Highland Mary Lakes. The snow is tremendous at Silverton, and a splendid place for whitewater paddling is Mineral Creek - South.
