Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Dolores River; a lake nearby is Bear Reservoir. A pleasant place to camp here at High Reservoir is Priest Gulch Campground and RV, and you might also want to pay a visit to Ellermeyer Gulch while you're here at High Reservoir. Bear Creek is a beautiful stream that is worth visiting; there is a great hiking trail close by called the Priest Gulch Trail. You'll wish for more hours

Verde National Park is a national park worth stopping at. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at West Dolores Campground; close by you discover the Spring Creek Trail which is a good hiking trail. The warmest time
of the year brings highs in the 70's to High Reservoir. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 30's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and nighttime lows at High Reservoir through the winter typically
fall into the 0's. Low Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could check out, and dry warm beds await you at Echo Basin Dude And Guest Ranch, LLC.

Summit Reservoir
 | 16 miles away Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.... |
