South Platte River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby; there's some exciting stuff to see at Higgins Dam in the neighborhood of Higgins Lake. Summertime highs at Higgins Lake mostly tend to be in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Highs through the winter are mostly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Higgins Lake are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Golf can be played at Buffalo Run Golf       Course; if you need a location to stay Brighton Inn is a good choice. A great place to camp here at Higgins Lake is Denver Northeast Pepper Pod, and dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Brighton. Higgins Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Barr Lake RV Park is a glorious local campground; not far from Higgins Lake you'll locate Magers Reservoir which is a pretty lake.
