For the period of the days of summer, highs typically are in the 70's at Hematite Lake, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Hematite Lake descend into the 10's. Hematite Lake gets very little rain; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of       the months is June. This lake is one of the great places here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Not far from Hematite Lake, you'll stumble on Lake Emma which is a gorgeous lake, and don't forget to take a fine little tour to Arrastra Creek. But wait, there's more to do near Hematite Lake. Lakes? Sure, Lake Como is in the neighborhood. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. If you want a little side journey, try                  Boulder Gulch, and you can run the rapids of Lime Creek. Why not camp at Silver Summit RV Park And Jeep Rentals while you're here at Hematite Lake, and you can go for a hike on the Brooklyn Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay St.Elmo Hotel is a perfect choice; going for a hike on the Whitehead Trail is always a wonderful adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Dome Mountain is uncomplicated to spot from Hematite Lake; skiing at Kendall Mountain is one of those things you just must do. This place, Hematite Lake, it definitely has so much outdoors entertaining stuff. Do set aside some time for Cataract Basin since you're here at Hematite Lake, and nearby you hit upon the Deer Park Trail which is a great hiking trail. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Twin Peaks Motel; there's whitewater on Mineral Creek - South for all you adrenaline kick people. So many fun things in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, just mind-blowing.
