Heart Lake is a beautiful lake in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Around Heart Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; most of the rain falls during August; June is when it's the driest. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Heart Lake. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 50's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Heart Lake temperatures descend to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. The

| | Big Blue Trail is a magnificent hiking trail near Heart Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Henson Creek. Just can't get enough of the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. If the weather is fine here at Heart Lake, you can go for a hike along the Fern Creek Stock Driveway; if you came for an overnight stay Mill Creek Campground is a great place to camp. This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. You could also explore Love Lake while you're here at Heart Lake; it's nearby, and there is a pleasant hiking trail nearby called the Ridge Stock Driveway. Looking for
