Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things in close proximity to Head Lake. Going for a hike on the Loop Trail is always a wonderful adventure. Head Lake is a tremendous site to visit for more than one day, Great Sand Dunes Oasis is a tremendous site to camp nearby; a magnificent close by hotel is Days Inn Alamosa. This lake is so wonderful.       Don't miss out on a spree to Great Sand Dunes National Monument since you're here at Head Lake, and Inn of the Rio Grande Hotel and Conference Ctr is a pleasant place to get some rest. Head Lake is a location that is rather dehydrated regularly; during August this area sees the most rain while January is commonly the driest month. All through the warmest time of the year, highs commonly are in the 70's at Head Lake while overnight lows are ordinarily in the 40's.                  Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's, and overnight lows at Head Lake through the wintertime typically descend into the-10's.
