The Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Go for a hike on the Monitor Mesa Trail; you have to absolutely dedicate some time to Cottonwood Basin since you're here at Hawkins Reservoir Number 2. That right there is plenty already, but it goes on; Hawkins Reservoir Number 2 has it all. Glide down the rapids of Escalante Creek in a kayak, and dry warm       beds await you at Best Western Sundance. Going for a hike on the Cottonwood Trail is always a delightful adventure, and camping at T Bone Spring Campground is always a brilliant experience. If you want a brilliant time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Get yourself into a kayak and hit San Miguel River, and lots of folks from Montrose come here. This lake is so wonderful. These mountains rock, just explore                  all the cool stuff to do in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Lakes? Sure, Beaver Reservoir is close at hand, and if you came to camp Smokehouse Campground is a good place to do that. For the duration of the summertime months at Hawkins Reservoir Number 2 highs are usually in the 90's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. Through the winter highs are frequently in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Hawkins Reservoir Number 2. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Moore Mesa Trail, and Twin Lakes Dam is a delightful site, beyond doubt worth going to.
