     If you get bored of Hatter Pond, you could also stop at close by Columbine Lake; good hiking is available along the Highline Trail. From Hatter Pond you obtain a brilliant panorama of Castle Rock, and the scenery at Lake of the Pines Dam is lovely. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors enjoyable things the area near Hatter Pond has to offer. The East Fork Trail offers hiking at its best; why not head up to Silverton and strap some skis to your feet. And  
   that's not all you can do here at Hatter Pond. The snow is brilliant at Kendall Mountain.
Whitewater paddling is tremendous on Animas River, and Hotter Brothers Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop by. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Hatter Pond; Circle Trail is a fine local trail; if you need a spot to stay Purgatory Lodge by Durango Mountain Resorts is a good choice. Cascade Village is a wonderful place to get some rest, and Purgatory Campground
 
               is a splendid local campground.
This lake is so wonderful. Getting to Elbert Creek from Hatter Pond is simple, and Haviland Lake Campground is a pleasant campground nearby. At Hatter Pond during the summertime highs are in the 70's with overnight lows in the 30's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while Hatter Pond nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 0's. Hatter Pond gets a normal amount of yearly rain; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month.
This lake is so wonderful. Get dripping wet paddling on Canyon Creek; you might also want to pay a visit to Line Canyon while you're here at Hatter Pond.
