Avalanche Campground is a great local campground, and Timberline Condominiums is a good spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Hardscrabble Lake; Munsey Ruby Stock Driveway is a nice local trail; get yourself into a kayak and hit Crystal River. That right there is a load already, but       it continues; Hardscrabble Lake has it all. The snow is fine at Aspen Highlands, and if you get bored of Hardscrabble Lake you could also check out nearby Williams Lake. If you need a location to stay The Green Drake is a pleasant choice. Around Hardscrabble Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; of all the months in a year April is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is June.
