Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Fryingpan River, and the top of Avalanche Peak is easily spotted from Halfmoon Lake. Halfmoon Lake gets very little rain; July is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is February. But wait, there's more to do in close proximity to Halfmoon Lake. The Lake Charles Trail offers hiking at its best; a lake       close by is Fairview Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Eagle River for all you thrill seekers, and do take a hike on the Ironedge Trail. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Sawatch Range. Halfmoon Lake is right by the Last Chance Trail; a delightful nearby hotel is The Pines Lodge. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Hyatt Mountain Lodge is a good choice, and at Halfmoon Lake you always meet someone                  from Edwards. There's so much to do here at Halfmoon Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Fulford Cave Campground is a brilliant place for that. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Halfmoon Lake. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Halfmoon Lake. So much amusing stuff to do in the Sawatch Range, not enough time. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Beaver Creek is next to Halfmoon Lake; Eagle Lake is a nearby lake that you could have a look at.
