The beauty of Half Moon Lake attracts many people from all around. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! The San Juan Mountains is so good! Gotta ski! Silverton is a nice site to do that, and camping is available at Pine River Campground. Dry warm beds await you at Cascade Village; a wonderful spot to camp here at Half Moon Lake is Vallecito Campground. But wait, there's more to do close to Half Moon Lake. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Half

| | Moon Lake; Whitehead Trail is a tremendous local trail; you'll hit upon a beautiful lake called Annie Lakes.
You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors amusing things the San Juan Mountains has to offer. Take a hike on the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway, and Buffalo Peak is a peak you can see from Half Moon Lake. in the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's, and overnight lows throughout the wintertime for Half Moon Lake tend to be in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful.
Why not take a refreshing hike along the Deer Park Trail,
and get soaked paddling on Animas River. The San Juan Mountains scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. What would winter be without some skiing at Kendall Mountain; whitewater paddling is nice on Vallecito Creek.
Around Half Moon Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; during August this area sees the most rain; June on the other hand is the driest.
