Do stop by Hack Lake while you're in this part of Colorado. This lake is so wonderful. Summertime at Hack Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and the night is a little chillier of course, regularly in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's with temperatures at Hack Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. Get soaked paddling on Sweetwater Creek, and a picturesque lake like Sweetwater Lake is a good place to stop by.

| | for a hike on the Ute Trail is always a tremendous adventure. There's so much to do here at Hack Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Sweetwater Lake Campground is a wonderful spot for that. That right there is lots already, but it continues; Hack Lake has it all. March is the month that gets the most snow, and the driest of the months is June.
This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Hotel Colorado, and lakes are such serene spots, why not go to Johnny Meyers Lake. If you
need a place to stay Caravan Inn is a fine choice; the High Trail is a fine hiking trail close by. Hack Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Coffee Pot Spring Campground is a fine local campground, and drift down the rapids of Grizzly Creek in a kayak.

It is very nice to fish from a boat or bank, but I prefer boat....Wife and I where fishing Stagecoach, then we heard of Yamcolo, it was about 20 mins out of Yampa. We came around the corner of the earthen dam side, looked down the fish where jumpin all over the place grabbed the poles and it was off to the rodoe,15 fish as fast as we could 45min past sorry did not have camera going back this year in couple of weeks can't wait New Castle Colo, Apple Tree Park... |

Jet lake is also located in the Flat Tops wilderness area so no vehicles allowed but is only about a 15 to 20 minute hike to the lake (an easy pretty flat hike) then about another 15 minute hike into shadow lake , about 15 mor into blair lake and about 15 more into crater lake.
Elk lakes are located about 5 minutes from the wilderness area only 1/2 mile to the parking for jet lakes....

located at the foot of Blair Mountain Adams Lake is well worth the trip. Definatly a 4 wheel drive Jeep Trail but only a few miles from Elk lakes, Jet lake, Shadow Lake, Blair lakes , Crater Lake, Deep lake and bison lake. Lots of Cut throat trout, rainbows and browns. Most deffinatly more than a one day trip. Always plan for all kinds of weather, and definitely tent camping only.... |
