Why not take a refreshing hike along the Whitewater Basin Trail; a wonderful close by hotel is Best Western Clifton Inn. Take a hike on the Spring Camp Trail; Rv Ranch Grand Junction is a great local campground. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 90's to Guild Reservoir. When the night sets in       temperatures sink down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Guild Reservoir. Around Guild Reservoir you don’t get a lot of precipitation; October is when you get the most rain here while February is commonly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Wine Country Inn is a nice choice; Powderhorn is a splendid local ski area. Why not camp at                  Grand Junction/Clifton Campground since you're here at Guild Reservoir, and whitewater paddling is good on Kannah Creek. There are other locations here than Guild Reservoir, for example Reeder Reservoir, and you could always explore Lockhart Draw. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Indian Point Trail is wonderful fun; do set aside some time for Halls Basin since you're here at Guild Reservoir. Here at Guild Reservoir there are plenty of folks from Grand Junction.
