Gore Range Trail
Well, exhilarating or not, you may want to consider parking your tent and self away from trees.  The forests in the Gore and elsewhere in Colorado are dying, particularly and immediately the pines.  The aspens are dealing plague also, but of a fungi and bacterial nature.  Do NOT camp near trees.......ut let me tell you I'VE NEVER BEEN MORE SCARED IN MY LIFE! We set up our tents just before dark as the rain was really starting to come down. The forecast predicted a few small isolated showers along the Continental Davide, earlier in the day. Isolated my ass- it rained hard for about 6 or 7 hours!!! It was around 10pm when I was awaken by a VERY unfamiliar loud crackling, popping, and snapping sound. I've never in my life heard anything that closely resembled the sounds I was hearing. The first one that woke me & lasted about 30 seconds, the next came about 5 minutes later and lasted a few seconds longer. This time after the same noises as before ended, there was a horrific crashing sound that shook the area where my tent was pitched. That's when I realized the tree's were falling due to the rain softening the soil around the Tree roots. I thought for  sure one of the up-rooted tree's were going to crush  me & my tent like a Grape. God must have lent a helping hand because in the morning we counted 17 tree's  that fell. One of the 40 foot tree's landed w/ in 20ft of my tent. That wa...

Upper Piney Lake
We had a great time hiking to Upper Piney Lake over 4th of July weekend, 2006. Although the views are out of this world, the hike will take everything out of you that you've got. I would highly recommend this hike. Make sure you have everything you need for AT LEAST 2 days. The hike to Upper Piney will take 8 hours (all up hill)...But only 4 hours to get back to Piney River Ranch....

Beaver Creek

At the gate you leave the world behind. Nestled at the feet of North America's World Cup mountain, Beaver Creek is a custom-designed resort with the safe, unhurried feel of an Alpine hamlet. From the skating rink in the village square to chocolate-chip cookies served fresh from the oven each afternoon at the lifts, and from the ''Ivy League ski school'' to the world-famous performing arts center, this is perhaps the very best of luxury family skiing. And there is a mountain of prestigious awards for food, wine, and customer service to prove it....

...years, new lifts were added and Copper grew to its current size of 2,465 acres. What was once a sleepy little day ski area is now one of Colorado's premier year-round destination resorts. In 1997, the resort was purchased by Intrawest - a worldwide leader in resort operations and real estate development.

Now the resort consists of not only an incredible mountain, but multiple villages, hundreds of buildings and a million other tangible, moving pieces. Copper is, and always has been, bigger than the tangible. Copper is about people. It’s about spirit. It’s about attitude, passion, heart, guest loyalty and financial strength. It’s about a place that provides a true connection to nature, adventure, the mountain, the community and the mountain lifestyle, void of any pretense. It’s a place, most of all, intent on allowing guests to push their proverbial ‘play button. ’

Copper Mountain is a Colorado ski resort located in Summit County, Colorado, 75 miles west of Denver in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. With 2,465 acres of ski and snowboard terrain Copper is perfect for your Co...

...o a top priority this summer with brush cutting and mowing work on the mountain's trails including the ''Extreme Limits'' taking place. The Plan Continues
This year's improvements and enhancements build upon Crested Butte Mountain Resort's continued investments in base area and on-mountain improvements over the past four years.
