     Granite Lake is one of the lakes here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Rio Grande has a great whitewater paddling spot close by, and if you need a site to stay Keyah Grande Resort is a good choice. Throughout the months of summer, highs generally are in the 70's at Granite Lake. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 30's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Granite Lake.
Elk Lake is a nearby
 
   lake that you could visit, and there are great sites to look at along the Middle Mountain Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Granite Lake has to offer, you can camp at Thirtymile Campground, and the sight of Granite Peak is scenic. This lake is so wonderful.
But wait, there's more entertaining things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Near Granite Lake you come across the Fern Creek Stock Driveway which is
 
               a wonderful hiking trail, and paddling on Vallecito Creek is so much fun. But wait, there's more to do close to Granite Lake. Near Granite Lake you discover Dog Rincon which is a great place to check out, and going for a hike on the Devil Mountain Trail is always a magnificent adventure. The amount of rainfall that falls at Granite Lake is close to the national average; August is the month that gets the most rain while June is regularly the driest month.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. While you're here at Granite Lake, you could also explore wonderful Divide Lakes. There's so much to do here at Granite Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Lost Trail Campground is a great place for that.
