Go for a hike on the Eagle Peak Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, Dolores River offers some nice whitewater. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Lost Canyon Stock Driveway is always a wonderful adventure, and not far from Gould Reservoir you'll come across Knuckles Reservoir which is a scenic lake. A day on the slopes of Hesperus Ski Center is just what you need; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore close by Loading Pen Reservoir. After a long day outdoors Echo Basin Dude And Guest Ranch, LLC is a nice site to spend a night or two; great hiking is available along the Morrison Trail. Now, you may imagine that's a load but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Gould Reservoir. If time allows, Mesa Verde National Park is a national park worth taking a
look at; camping is available at West Dolores Campground. A wonderful location to camp here at Gould Reservoir is Mavreeso Campground, and let's not forget Taylor Creek which is a stream that you may run into while you're here. The
warmest time of the year at Gould Reservoir comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are regularly in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Gould Reservoir dip into the 10's.

Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.... |

It contains 163 surface acres when full and is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company.
