What a nice lake Gold Dust Lakes is. The Sawatch Range scenery is always beautiful. There are good spots to explore along the Lake Charles Trail. So much entertaining stuff in the Sawatch Range, just inspiring. This is a popular place for folks from Edwards; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by close by Horseshoe Lake. High temperatures at Gold Dust Lakes all through the long summer days are in the 80's, and during the night

| | it cools down to the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and night lows during the wintertime for Gold Dust Lakes tend to be in the 0's. Fryingpan River; going for a hike on the New York Mountain Trail is always a perfect adventure. Around Gold Dust Lakes you don’t get a lot of precipitation; through the month of July you get the most rain around here while February
is regularly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Yeoman Park Campground while you're here at Gold Dust Lakes, and you can go for a hike on the Lake Creek Trail.

 | 14 miles away Beautiful drive up to Lede Reservoir. We started in Eagle and took Sylvan Lake road all the way past the lake and then took a right at the first intersection. After climbing up and around the peak in front of us we were upon some huge rolling meadows that were among the forrests. A slight drop down into the valley on the west side of the mountains and a left turn lead us to the reservoir. It is a great spot with some fishing paths around the water and a number of campsites as well. We continued west to Gypsum Creek Road and a short drive back to the town of Gypsum.... |

Copper Mountain

He took one look at the current site of Copper and told his friends, I don’t care how everyone else does it, we're not everyone else, and he meant it. He negotiated a deal to purchase 280 acres at the base and worked with the Forest Service to establish parameters and guidelines for the ski area. Chuck was both a renegade and a visionary. During the summer of '71, initial construction began on the ski trails. Today, Chuck’s dream is alive and well.
As stated in a 1969 US Forest Service report, if there were a mountain that had terrain for skiing it would be Copper Mountain. It is the most nearly perfect ski mountain in the U. S. Over the years, new lifts were added and Copper grew to its current size of 2,465 acres. What was once a sleepy little day ski area is now one of Colorado's premier year-round destination resorts. In 1997, the resort was purchased by Intrawest - a worldwide leader in resort operations and real estate development.
