After a long day outdoors Best Western Jicarilla Inn is a fine place to spend a night or two. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Glacier Lakes has to offer, you can camp at Trujillo Meadows Campground. Driveway. And that's not all the things you can do here in the San Juan Mountains. Glacier Lakes is a wonderful spot to camp, El Vado Lake Camping Resort is a wonderful spot, and pleasant hiking is available along the Red Lake Trail.
This lake is so wonderful. Rio Chama has a brilliant whitewater paddling spot close by, and there's pleasant hiking along the Elk Creek Trail. Glacier Lakes generally gets a great deal of rainfall; through March this area sees the most snow, and June is when it's the driest.
