This lake is so wonderful. A gorgeous lake like Gold Creek Lake right next door to Gilpin Lake is a tremendous place to go to; of course Mica Creek flows through this region. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is brilliant on Encampment River. There's so much to do here at Gilpin Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Beaver Creek Campground is a delightful location for that. Gotta ski! Steamboat       is a delightful site to do that. You'll come across a stunning lake called Bighorn Lake near Gilpin Lake, and do take a hike on the Mica Basin Trail. And that's not all you can do here at Gilpin Lake. Gilpin Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Helena Campground is a delightful local campground, and in case you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Elk River. And that's not all the things you can do                  here in the Park Range. After a long day outdoors CrossTimbers at Steamboat is a nice place to spend a night or two; from Gilpin Lake you acquire a good panorama of Mount Zirkel. For the duration of the warmest time of the year at Gilpin Lake highs are ordinarily in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Gilpin Lake temperatures descend to the 10's. Gilpin Lake gets very little precipitation; April is when you get the most rain here; the driest month of the year is January. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Gilpin Trail, and if you like swamps you're in luck, Swamp Park is right close by. So much cool stuff in the Park Range, just unbelievable.
