If you need a location to stay Outpost Motel is a good choice, and hiking along the McPhee Stock Trail is splendid fun. At Gardner Reservoir you don’t see much rain; during the month of October you get the most rain around here while June is generally the driest month. What a site this is for outdoors folks. While you're here at Gardner Reservoir you can take a hike along the Stoner Stock Trail, and       a charming lake like Calf Reservoir is a magnificent place to have a look at. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Dolores River; Dunham Spring is always fun to check out. Dry warm beds await you at Historic Rio Grande Southern, and as expected, all our national parks are brilliant places to stop by and Mesa Verde National Park is no exception. All through the summer highs here at Gardner                  Reservoir get into the 80's, and the night is slightly cooler of course, usually in the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's while Gardner Reservoir overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Ormiston Point Stock Driveway will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Gardner Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Dolores River RV Park.
