Camping at Gander Pond is delightful fun, Aspen Grove Campground is a delightful local campground, and tremendous hiking is available along the High Trail. A great place in the neighborhood of Gander Pond is Hanson Draw, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Gander Pond; Monument Trail is a glorious local trail. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! Gander Pond is excellent!       If you need a location to stay Vega Lodge is a glorious choice, and the peak of Baldridge Point can be spotted from Gander Pond. Gander Pond gets very little precipitation; all through March this area sees the most rain while June is frequently the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Porter Flat is a wonderful place any time of year; you can go for a hike on the Silver Spruce Trail. Take a side trip to Beaver Creek. Why not camp at Buzzard Campground                  while you're here at Gander Pond; a fine nearby hotel is La Quinta Inn & Suites Rifle. High temperatures at Gander Pond all through the months of summer are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's.
