Fossil Reservoir is a lake worth visiting. It is very arid here at Fossil Reservoir mostly; October is the month that gets the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Dinosaur National Monument is a fine national park, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend White River. | | down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's; throughout the dark hours in the winter at Fossil Reservoir temperatures sink to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Halandras Reservoir Number 1 is a nearby lake that you could take a look at, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Dragon Douglas Trail. Very good water scenery is available at Raven Park Dam close to Fossil Reservoir, and get your pulse rate up on the glorious whitewater of Yampa River.
