Good hiking is available along the Oyster Lake Trail; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Bessies Falls. Be careful coming to Florence Lake, you might not ever want to return back home again. There's nice hiking along the Ute Trail; camping at Florence Lake is glorious fun, Shepherds Rim Campground is a glorious local campground. Why not camp at Himes Peak Campground while you're       here at Florence Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend White River - North Fork. The warmest time of the year at Florence Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 40's. During the winter the highs are typically in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Florence Lake temperatures fall to the 0's. The Fayville Trail offers                  hiking at its best, and do stop by Big Fish Lake, it's a pretty lake. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Rodeway Inn Glenwood Springs; the top of Himes Peak is easily spotted from Florence Lake. Florence Lake gets very little rainfall; all through October this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. This lake is so wonderful.
