Get dripping wet paddling on Gunnison River - North Fork, and there is a magnificent hiking trail close by called the Hammond Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Sunlight Mountain Inn is a pleasant choice.       Near Floating Lake you locate the Sunset Trail which is a perfect hiking trail, and glide down the rapids of Anthracite Creek - Ruby Fork in a kayak. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun stuff at Floating Lake. Floating Lake is in the vicinity of Road Gulch which is certainly worth visiting; Buck Mesa is beautiful and can be seen from here. This lake is so wonderful. On a wonderful day at Floating Lake you can take a hike along the Terror                  Trail, and you can stay the night at Dyke Creek Campground. Places like Bark Basin are nice to visit; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore nearby Hall Reservoir. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Floating Lake. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Floating Lake descend into the 0's.
