This is no location for people who don’t like to have a good time. You might want to pay a visit to Hermit Pass while you're here at Eureka Lake, and since you're here and you like golf, you can visit Challenger Golf Club. Eureka Lake is one of the lakes here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. High temperatures at Eureka Lake through the days of summer are in the 80's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 40's. The wintertime       brings highs down to the 30's; nighttime lows through the wintertime for Eureka Lake tend to be in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. North Crestone Campground is a great campground nearby, and Great Sand Dunes National Monument is a delightful local destination. At Eureka Lake you don’t see much rain; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. On a delightful day you get a panorama of Eureka                  Mountain from Eureka Lake, and don't leave Eureka Lake without first going for a hike along the Rito Alto Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Groundhog Basin is a magnificent place; you need to check out Phantom Terrace while you're here. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Hermit Lake Trail. But wait, there's more exciting things to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. There's pleasant hiking along the Loop Trail. Lakes are great; Horseshoe Lake is a lake that's in the neighborhood of Eureka Lake.
