     Get dripping wet paddling on Piedra River, and a lake nearby is Dollar Lake. Through the days of summer here at Emerald Lake, high temperatures generally reach the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 30's with temperatures at Emerald Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Not much rain falls here at Emerald Lake; August is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months  
   is June.
This is no spot for people who don’t like to have fun. Whitewater paddling is great on Vallecito Creek, and the Whitehead Trail is a nice hiking trail nearby. Yep, outdoors entertaining stuff truly is bountiful here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Camping at Vallecito Campground is always a splendid experience, and Emerald Lake is close to Hell Canyon which is unquestionably worth stopping at. This lake is located in the wonderful San Juan
 
               and Jemez Mountains.
Little Emerald Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at, and if the weather is wonderful, you can go for a hike along the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway. If you want a nice time in the great outdoors just come on up to the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Head up to Silverton and strap some skis to your feet. This lake is so wonderful. Emerald Lake is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Pine River Campground is a tremendous local campground, and nearby you locate the Devil Mountain Trail which is a nice hiking trail.
