A good place for whitewater paddling near Elk Lake is Sweetwater Creek, and Lost Lakes Peaks is clearly visible from Elk Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Places like Skinny Fish Basin are good to stop by, and an exciting thing to go to next to Elk Lake is McGinnis Meadows Reservoir Dam. Throughout the warm months here at Elk Lake, high temperatures typically reach the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 40's.
