Hiking along the Wintersteen Trail is great fun, and Budget Host Inn Fort Collins is a great place to get some rest. During the warm months at Elder Reservoir highs are typically in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are usually in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Elder Reservoir are in the 10's. There are other spots here than Elder Reservoir,       for example Annex Reservoir Number 8; Cache La Poudre River is a great whitewater spot close by. A golf course right next door to Elder Reservoir is Fort Collins Country Club Golf, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Kiva Inn is a good location to spend a night or two. But wait, there's more to do next to Elder Reservoir. Camping is available at Ft Collins N/Wellington KOA, and going for a hike along the Greyrock Trail will let you absorb the natural                  beauty of this neighborhood. Why not camp at Heron Lake RV Park if you're here at Elder Reservoir, and if you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cache La Poudre River - North Fork. This lake is so wonderful. Lots of people from Fort Collins-Loveland come to Elder Reservoir, and why not stop by Elder Dam since you're here. Elder Reservoir gets very little precipitation; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
