Whitewater paddling is great on Canyon Creek, and if the weather is magnificent, you can go for a hike along the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway. This lake is so wonderful. On a tremendous day at Lake Eileen you can take a hike along the Whitehead Trail, and Lake Eileen is a pleasant place to visit for more than one day, Vallecito Campground is a pleasant place to camp nearby. This lake is located in the wonderful San       Juan and Jemez Mountains. Throughout the days of summer at Lake Eileen temperatures are typically in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Lake Eileen dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. All the outdoors enjoyable things in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains will keep you coming back again and again. There are other places here than Lake Eileen, for example Chain                  Lakes, and if you're here at Lake Eileen it's a good idea to take a look at Freeman Park. This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. Yeah, come up here to the San Juan and Jemez Mountains for a wonderful time. On a wonderful day you get a vista of West Mountain from Lake Eileen, and a fine nearby hotel is Tamarron Resort. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Lake Eileen you will meet lots of folks from close by Durango; the Deer Park Trail is a brilliant hiking trail nearby. In case you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Vallecito Creek; Vallecito Reservoir is a great lake nearby. At Lake Eileen you don’t see much rain; August is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is June. Head up to Silverton and strap some skis to your feet, and do stop by D Creek if you're here at Lake Eileen. That right there is a load already, but it goes on; Lake Eileen has it all.
