     Stay the night at Sheep Crossing Campground, and if you come at the right time of year, Rio Grande offers some tremendous whitewater. It is very arid here at Eastdale Reservoir Number 1 generally; throughout August this area sees the most rain; January is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. If you get bored of Eastdale Reservoir Number 1, you could also check out close by Anderson Reservoir, and everyone close by loves skiing at Ski Rio. Gotta  
   ski! Red River is a splendid place to do that.
A lake nearby is Eastdale Reservoir Number 2; Eastdale Reservoir Number 1 is a great site to visit for more than one day, Rio Costilla Park is a great site to camp nearby. At Eastdale Reservoir Number 1 all through the warmest time of the year highs are in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Eastdale Reservoir Number 1 dipping down into the 0's during winter nights.

28 years ago as a 16 year/old Eagle Scout I was introduced to Latir. The pristine, grandure and soulful solitude of the Latir inspired me greatly. Last year I finally returned to Latir with my wife and 4 daughters. We found greatfully NOTHING had changed!!!! We spent 6 days exploring, fishing, and bonding. One entire afternoon was spent at Lake #7 shouting echoes to each other. Skip the plastic commericial touristy stuff...go to Latir!!!!...
