This is a tremendous area for people who like lakes. South Reservoir is a lake close by, and Carver Canyon is also a pleasant site to explore. This lake is so wonderful. The Lost Canyon Stock Driveway is a delightful hiking trail near East Italian Reservoir, and Italian Spring is always fun to check out. Nearby lakes? Sure, West Italian Reservoir is near East Italian Reservoir, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Stoner Stock Trail.

| | There is a perfect hiking trail near East Italian Reservoir called the McPhee Stock Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Dolores River RV Park is a good location to camp. East Italian Reservoir in fact is in the middle of a gorgeous outdoors paradise. Dunton Hot Springs is a great place to get some rest, and The Forks Campground is a magnificent campground nearby. brings highs in the 80's to East Italian Reservoir with overnight lows in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for East Italian Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. A tour to Mesa Verde
National Park is recommended, and after a long day outdoors Echo Basin Dude And Guest Ranch, LLC is a fine site to spend a night or two.

Puett Reservoir
 | A.M. Puett Reservoir was originally constructed in 1905, and then reconstructed in 1960. It contains 163 surface acres when full and is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and open for public fishing from the bank and from trolling motor powered boats. No swimming is allowed. The lake is on private land and access is limited to 3 feet above the high water line.... |
Summit Reservoir
 | Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.... |

 | 13 miles away We stayed in this campground mid-July 2006. Very efficient, friendly park. Adequate power, water, and sewage hookups. Rates were reasonable; and the manager did indicate that longer stays were discounted. Nice fenced dog run for our puppies to enjoy. The microbrewery in town has a wide selection of locally made beverages. I would gladly stop at La Mesa RV Park again.... |
