The San Juan and Jemez Mountains is great! Get yourself into a kayak and hit Canyon Creek; the snow is nice at Kendall Mountain. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors entertaining stuff the San Juan and Jemez Mountains has to offer. If you need a site to stay Purgatory Village Condominium Hotel is a pleasant choice, and going for a hike along the Highline Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this       vicinity. Hiking along the Deer Park Trail is delightful fun; Dollar Lake is not far at all from Durango. Head up to Silverton and strap some skis to your feet; West Virginia Gulch is also a splendid spot to discover. If you come at the right time of year, Animas River offers some brilliant whitewater, and camping is available at Transfer Park Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Lodge at Tamarron; camping at Bear Creek Campground                  is always a brilliant experience. This lake is so wonderful. You could also take a look at Pear Lake while you're here at Dollar Lake; it's close by, and a cool spot to have a look at is Overlook Point. This lake is one of the great places here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Not much precipitation falls here at Dollar Lake; August is the wettest month with most rain while June is frequently the driest month. Be careful coming to Dollar Lake, you might not ever want to go back home again. Take a hike on the Whitehead Trail. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Dollar Lake. Dollar Lake is not the only site close by, Ruby Lake is a close by lake, and you can catch a sight of Lime Mesa from Dollar Lake. For the period of the summertime highs here at Dollar Lake get into the 70's with overnight lows in the 40's.
