Dollar Lake gets very little precipitation; July is when you get the most rain here, and January is when it's the driest. Near Dollar Lake you find the Venable-Comanche Trail which is a splendid hiking trail. During the warmest time of the year at Dollar Lake temperatures are frequently in the 80's. Once the sun is       down it sinks down to the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and night lows throughout the wintertime for Dollar Lake tend to be in the-10's. Looking for some flowing water? Try Arena Creek; if time allows, Great Sand Dunes National Monument is a national park worth checking out. This lake is so wonderful. The Music Pass Trail is a pleasant hiking trail close to Dollar Lake, and lakes are such calm sites, why not go to Cotton Lake. On a great                  day at Dollar Lake you can take a hike along the Loop Trail; you can stay the night at Great Sand Dunes Oasis. So much exciting stuff to do at Dollar Lake, so little time.
