Dipping Lakes mostly gets a lot of precipitation; all through March this area sees the most snow, and the driest month of the year is June. Near Dipping Lakes you find the South Fork Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail; Dipping Lakes is great enough to spend more than a day at, El Vado Lake Camping Resort is a great local campground. Throughout the summer months at Dipping Lakes       temperatures are usually in the 60's; the night is a little cooler of course, generally in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's; after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Dipping Lakes descend into the 0's. Now, you may assume that's a load but there's even more amusing stuff to do here in the San Juan Mountains. Whitewater paddling is magnificent on Rio Chama, and going for a hike on the Ruybalid Trail is always a great                  adventure. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Dipping Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Conejos Campground is a tremendous place for that, and if you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Conejos River. Dipping Lakes is one of the lakes here in the San Juan Mountains. Laguna Venado is a brilliant lake close to Dipping Lakes; there is a tremendous hiking trail nearby called the Elk Creek Trail. Just can't get enough of Dipping Lakes.
