If you are in this part of Colorado make sure to pay a visit to Devils Lake. Devils Lake gets very little rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest of the months is February. Devils Lake is a nice place to visit for more than one day, Slumgullion Pass Campground is a nice place to camp nearby; don't leave Devils Lake without first going for a hike along the Cebolla Trail. Deer Lakes, and the view of picturesque Calf Creek Plateau is great. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Lake Fork Gunnison River has a good whitewater paddling spot close by; Deer Lakes Campground is a wonderful local campground.
