Dead Dog Reservoir is a nice lake to visit. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Dead Dog Reservoir. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. On a pleasant day at Dead Dog Reservoir you can take a hike along the Dragon Douglas Trail; there are some wonderful whitewater spots on Yampa River. Dry warm beds await you at Blue Mountain Inn and Suites; if you come at the right time of year, White River offers some good whitewater. Dinosaur National Monument is a brilliant national park, and don't leave Dead Dog Reservoir without first checking out Coal Oil Rim.
