Hiking along the Round Mountain Trail is brilliant fun; you can run the rapids of Saint Vrain Creek - North. DeFrance Reservoir is pretty dry commonly; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. Host Exit 254 Inn Loveland is a glorious place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Get your heart pumping on the pleasant whitewater of Big Thompson River, and why not visit De France Dam while you're here. De France
Reservoir is a fine lake in the neighborhood of DeFrance Reservoir; if you're a golfer then a great nearby course is Cattail Creek Golf Course. The panorama of Twin Mounds from DeFrance Reservoir is gorgeous, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Crossroads Inn & Conference Center is a great place to spend a night or two.

Watson Lake
 | 18 miles away Watson is beautiful. You do need a wilderness habitat stamp to be there, but that is included with your fishing license. It is closed to boating, except float tubes. The river (poudre) runs along the east side of the lake so even for casual recreation or non fishing activities it is a picteresque spot.
