This lake is so wonderful. Conejos River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby; going for a hike along the Red Lake Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. After a long day outdoors Branding Iron Motel is a perfect location to spend a night or two, and there are other places here than De Herrera Lake, for example Rock Lake. De Herrera Lake is a wet place that gets lots of precipitation; March       is when you get the most snow here; June is the month with the least moisture. High temperatures at De Herrera Lake during the summertime are in the 60's with night lows in the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's with temperatures at De Herrera Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. On a great day at De Herrera Lake you can take a hike along the Posos Trail, and a pleasant site to camp here at De Herrera Lake is Spectacle                  Lake Campground.
