A tremendous site right next door to Crater Lakes is Rogers Pass, and in case you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Clear Creek - West Fork. This lake is located in the wonderful Front Range. A pleasant spot for whitewater paddling right next door to Crater Lakes is Boulder Creek; great hiking is available along the King Lake Trail. Around       Crater Lakes you don’t get a lot of rainfall; August is the wettest month with most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. There are great places to explore along the South Boulder Creek Trail, and if you need a spot to stay Iron Horse Resort is a great choice. Arapaho Creek is near Crater Lakes and is always a diversion to visit; Winter Park is a very popular ski area in close proximity. But wait,                  there's more cool stuff to do in the Front Range. Don't leave Crater Lakes without first going for a hike along the James Peak Lake Trail, and Zephyr Mountain Lodge is a glorious spot to get some rest. Just can't get enough of Crater Lakes. Having a brilliant time in the Front Range is easy. At Crater Lakes you can see Mount Epworth, and camping at Buckingham Campground is always a magnificent experience. But wait, there's more to do in the neighborhood of Crater Lakes. If you came to camp Midland Campground is a magnificent site to do that; not far from Crater Lakes you'll discover Arapaho Lakes which is a striking lake. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Crater Lakes. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 40's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Crater Lakes temperatures plunge to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful.
