This lake is so wonderful. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Kendall Mountain is next to Crater Lake, and on a beautiful day you obtain a great view of North Twilight Peak from Crater Lake. Crater Lake is a location that is rather dried up frequently; August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is June. The San Juan and Jemez Mountains scenery is always beautiful.
This lake is so wonderful. The Highline Trail offers hiking

at its best, and a pleasant spot to camp here at Crater Lake is Lime Creek Campground. Paddling on Animas River is so much fun, and Crater Lake is not the only location close by, Andrews Lake is a close by lake. That right there is plenty already, but it continues; Crater Lake has it all. Purgatory Lodge by Durango Mountain Resorts is a splendid location to get some rest; great hiking is available along the Deer Park Trail.
There's no way anybody can get

bored here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. If you need a place to stay Purgatory Village Condominium Hotel is a great choice, and if you've had enough of Crater Lake, Little Molas Lake is nearby. So many entertaining things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, not enough time. The West Needle Mountains casts its shadow over Crater Lake; why not camp at Purgatory Campground since you're here at Crater Lake.
