Caught three 12' cutthroat trout, and had a much larger trout strike my lure a couple of times (not hard enough for me to set the hook). Beautiful place, but the mosquitos ate me alive. Summertime highs at Crater Lake frequently tend to be in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's; overnight lows in the 0's for Crater Lake. There's so much to do here at Crater Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Dyke Creek Campground is a brilliant site for that, and on a       fine day you can take a hike along the Monument Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Buzzard Campground is a delightful site to do that; if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Elk Park Trail. Crater Lake is a location that is relatively dry usually; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is June. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Howard Johnson Express - Cedaredge                  is a good place to spend a night or two, and if you need a place to stay La Quinta Inn & Suites Rifle is a splendid choice. Pine Cone Dam has splendid water scenery and it's near Crater Lake, and if you're here, you could pop by Crater Creek. Yep, outdoors fun things to do are really plentiful here at Crater Lake. At Crater Lake you can see Crater Peak, and you're probably keen on lakes, Goodenough Reservoir is one of those close by. Get wet paddling on Gunnison River - North Fork; almost certainly you're looking for close by lakes?
