     Get your pulse rate up on the perfect whitewater of Dolores River, and don't leave Cox Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Stoner Stock Trail. There's magnificent hiking along the Lost Canyon Stock Driveway, and after a long day outdoors Dunton Hot Springs is a great place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Tom Number One Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could go to, and camping is available at The Forks Campground. If you need  
   a place to stay Echo Basin Dude And Guest Ranch, LLC is a great choice, and Mesa Verde National Park is a perfect place close by.
Any time is a great time at Cox Reservoir if you go for the outdoors. Why not camp at Dolores River RV Park while you're here at Cox Reservoir, and do explore Tom Number Five Reservoir, it's a scenic lake. At Cox Reservoir you don’t see much rain; during October this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is June. While staying
 
               at Cox Reservoir you could always discover Spruce Water Canyon; the Eagle Peak Trail offers hiking at its best.
This lake is so wonderful. During the days of summer, highs commonly are in the 80's at Cox Reservoir. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's, and overnight lows at Cox Reservoir all through the winter commonly drop into the 10's.

Summit Reservoir
Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed....

Puett Reservoir
A.M. Puett Reservoir was originally constructed in 1905, and then reconstructed in 1960. It contains 163 surface acres when full and is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and open for public fishing from the bank and from trolling motor powered boats. No swimming is allowed. The lake is on private land and access is limited to 3 feet above the high water line....

We stayed in this campground mid-July 2006. Very efficient, friendly park. Adequate power, water, and sewage hookups. Rates were reasonable; and the manager did indicate that longer stays were discounted. Nice fenced dog run for our puppies to enjoy. The microbrewery in town has a wide selection of locally made beverages. I would gladly stop at La Mesa RV Park again....
