A visit to Cox Lakes is always a good idea. During the summer at Cox Lakes temperatures are usually in the 60's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's; nighttime lows at Cox Lakes during the winter commonly fall into the 0's. There are some perfect whitewater spots on Rio Chama, and don't leave Cox Lakes without first going for a hike along the La Manga Stock Driveway. If you want a brilliant time in the great

| | outdoors just come on up to the San Juan Mountains. Why not camp at Trujillo Meadows Campground since you're here at Cox Lakes; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Conejos River.
This lake is so wonderful. Beaver Lakes is a fine lake close to Cox Lakes, and there's fine hiking along the Red Lake Trail. This lake is one of the great places here in the San Juan Mountains. Good hiking is available along the Elk Creek | |

But wait, there's more to do close to Cox Lakes. A splendid site to camp here at Cox Lakes is El Vado Lake Camping Resort. Cox Lakes regularly gets a good deal of rainfall; March is when you get the most snow here; the driest month of the year is June.
