Lou Creek Pass is a glorious location to spend some time at, and if you need a spot to stay Ouray Chalet Inn is a perfect choice. So much amusing stuff to do here at Cowboy Lake, too perfect to be true. Some close by water includes Fox Creek, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Ouray. If you get bored of Cowboy Lake, you could also stop at close by Silver Jack Reservoir; there's whitewater on Cimarron River for all you adrenaline rush seekers. along the Courthouse Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Cimarron River, and do set aside some time for Cabbage Patch since you're here at Cowboy Lake. Summer
at Cowboy Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Cowboy Lake dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.
Going for a hike on the Deer Creek Trail is always a brilliant adventure; Silver Jack Dam is a gorgeous place, certainly worth checking out. If you want a fine time in the great outdoors just come on up to the San Juan and Jemez Mountains.
Near Cowboy Lake you come across the Lou Creek Trail which is a great hiking trail; why not head up to Silverton and strap some skis to your feet. This lake is so wonderful. Cowboy Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Beaver Lake Campground is a good local campground, and Hanging Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at.
