This lake is so wonderful. The Rainbow Trail is a nice hiking trail in the neighborhood of Cottonwood Lake, and if you've had enough of Cottonwood Lake, South Colony Lakes is nearby. This lake is located in the wonderful Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Now, you may feel that's a heap but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Cottonwood Lake. Camping at Grape Creek RV Park       and Campground is always a magnificent experience, and Cottonwood Lake is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, North Crestone Campground is a perfect local campground. All year is a tremendous time in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains if you fancy the outdoors. On a wonderful day at Cottonwood Lake you can take a hike along the Venable-Comanche Trail; the views at Great Sand Dunes National Monument will blow your mind. All through the summertime months                  at Cottonwood Lake temperatures are mostly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are typically in the 30's with temperatures at Cottonwood Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights.
