Cottonwood Lake is a nice lake to visit. Don't you try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a glorious time here at Cottonwood Lake. Have a splendid hiking adventure along the Texas Creek Trail, and let's not forget Hughes Creek which is a stream that you may run into while here. While you're here at Cottonwood Lake you can take a hike along the South Pine Creek Trail; whitewater paddling is glorious on Arkansas River. Man, is there a load of exciting things to

It is very dry here at Cottonwood Lake mostly; August is when you get the most rain here while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. A perfect close by hotel is Buena Vista Super 8 Motel, of course you could also check out Rainbow Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. | |

The Sawatch Range scenery is always beautiful. Through the months of summer at Cottonwood Lake highs are mostly in the 70's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 30's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the
20's with winter lows in the-20's overnight here at Cottonwood Lake. So many enjoyable things to do here in the Sawatch Range, too wonderful to be true. If you came to camp Hughes Meadow Campground is a perfect place to do that;
you acquire a good sight of Sheep Mountain from here. There's so much to do here at Cottonwood Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Colt Spring Campground is a glorious spot for that; wonderful scenery and perfect skiing
is what you acquire at Monarch. This lake is so wonderful. Cottonwood Lake is not the only site nearby, Fox Lake is a nearby lake, and while you're here why not stop by Avalanche Gulch.

Monarch
 | 15 miles away 3 PHOTOS ...onarch Mountain is located in south central Colorado, well south of the freeway madness that gridlocks Interstate 70 from Denver to the Front Range resorts each weekend. Located on Highway 50 on the Continental Divide, Monarch is very accessible. It's also one of the oldest ski areas in Colorado, established in 1939. Monarch Mountain is what you expect from a real Colorado ski area. Abundant natural snow (350+ inches) and friendly people are two of our strongest attributes. You can walk from your car right to the lifts, prices are reasonable, and the runs flow naturally back to the base area. At Monarch you'll lose the crowds but not your friends. Monarch is a family favorite because of great snow conditions and easy access to the mountain. Having one base area makes it convenient to drop off the little ones in the Children's Center, pick-up rental equipment, sign up for ski school and get on the slopes in a timely manner. Lift lines are a rarity and you will regularly find ski runs to yourself. Looking for great powder, spectacular views, 1000+ acres of expert terrain, s... |
