Take a hike on the Music Pass Trail, and needless to say Arena Creek is a pretty stream that is worth visiting. Summertime highs at Cotton Lake mostly tend to be in the 80's with night lows in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's; overnight lows at Cotton Lake during the wintertime usually descend into the-10's. Cotton Lake is frequently a rather dried out place; the month of       July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is January. After a long day outdoors Inn of the Rio Grande Hotel and Conference Ctr is a pleasant place to spend a night or two, and camping is available at Great Sand Dunes Oasis. So much amusing stuff to do at Cotton Lake, so little time. Camping at San Luis Lakes is always a great experience; you can have a good hiking adventure along the Huerfano Trail. This lake is so wonderful.                  If you need a place to stay Alamosa-Days Inn is a magnificent choice, and Cotton Lake is right by the Loop Trail.
