The McPhee Stock Trail is a perfect hiking trail close to Cortez Number 1 Reservoir, and Holiday Inn Express MESA VERDE-CORTEZ is a brilliant place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. For the duration of the days of summer at Cortez Number 1 Reservoir temperatures are regularly in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's, and night lows during the wintertime for Cortez Number 1 Reservoir

is a nice hiking trail next to Cortez Number 1 Reservoir called the Upper Navajo Canyon Trail, and Totten Lake is a good lake nearby. Mesa Verde National Park is one of the destinations close to Cortez Number 1 Reservoir that
are nice to go to, and Cortez Mesa Verde KOA is a fine local campground. Near Cortez Number 1 Reservoir you hit upon great locations like Ritter Draw, and a great nearby hotel is Days Inn Cortez.

La Mesa RV Park
 | We stayed in this campground mid-July 2006. Very efficient, friendly park. Adequate power, water, and sewage hookups. Rates were reasonable; and the manager did indicate that longer stays were discounted. Nice fenced dog run for our puppies to enjoy. The microbrewery in town has a wide selection of locally made beverages. I would gladly stop at La Mesa RV Park again.... |
Puett Reservoir
 | A.M. Puett Reservoir was originally constructed in 1905, and then reconstructed in 1960. It contains 163 surface acres when full and is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and open for public fishing from the bank and from trolling motor powered boats. No swimming is allowed. The lake is on private land and access is limited to 3 feet above the high water line.... |
Summit Reservoir
 | 10 miles away Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.... |
