     This lake is so wonderful. Get drenched paddling on Vallecito Creek, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Columbine Lake; Brooklyn Trail is a splendid local trail. At Columbine Lake you don’t see much rainfall; August is the month that gets the most rain while June is typically the driest month. During the warm months, highs generally are in the 70's at Columbine Lake. During the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 40's. Throughout the  
   wintertime highs are mostly in the 30's with temperatures at Columbine Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights.
Columbine Lake is a beautiful lake in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Hazel Lake is a splendid lake in close proximity to Columbine Lake, and great hiking is available along the Whitehead Trail. A great spot to camp here at Columbine Lake is Vallecito Campground, and if you need a site to stay Purgatory Village Condominium Hotel
 
               is a delightful choice.
And if that's not enough, there's lots more to do near Columbine Lake. A day on the slopes of Silverton is just what you need; you can catch a sight of Aztec Mountain from Columbine Lake. All the outdoors amusing things in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains will keep you coming back repeatedly. The skiing at Kendall Mountain is splendid; a beautiful lake like Lillie Lake is a great place to visit. This lake is so wonderful. Chicago Basin is a magnificent place, and camping is available at Blue Spruce Trailer Park.

Get yourself into a kayak and hit Animas River, and a splendid nearby hotel is Purgatory Lodge by Durango Mountain Resorts. Yeah, come up here to the San Juan and Jemez Mountains for a great time.
