Cole Reservoir is a great spot to visit for more than one day, Delux RV Park is a great spot to camp nearby; do visit Cole Dam while you're here. A wonderful place for whitewater paddling in the vicinity of Cole Reservoir is South Platte River, and Broadlands Golf Course is a splendid golf course close by. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Cole Reservoir; during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's; overnight

What a place this is for outdoors folks. Not far from Cole Reservoir, you'll stumble on Wadley Reservoir Number 2 which is a lovely lake, and Sleep Inn Thornton is a great site to get some rest. Cole Reservoir gets very little rainfall; during May this area sees the most rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month. Good fishing here if you are willing to experiment. Limited shoreline access because of the weed structures but those weeds hold good size bass. I have found it easy to catch 10-14 inch largemouth in the open spots with plastic worms and surface lures. I have only fished there four times as of this writing (07/13/2007) but have enjoyed each visit. My best fish so far was a 17'' largemouth caught on a Jitterbug. Take the kids!... |

Is there a way to join the Baseline Recreation Group?...How do you get in touch with the Denver Boat Club?...Is there a way to join the Baseline Res Group? ...Is it possible to obtain a membership to kayak or canoe on the lake?...Baseline Res is the city of Lafayette?s water supply. The Denver Boat Club rents it from the city so they can water ski. The Baseline Res Group is a group of 250 families that rent a corner of the lake from the Denver Boat Club. If you want to use this lake you MUST be a guest of one of these groups. Since it is a water supply these groups are obligated to follow strict rules. They cannot allow anyone to just hop the fence and play because their privileges will be taken away. Someone is always watching the lake including the City of Lafayette watching the two clubs activities.... |
